Semita – Salvador
Serves 1-2
1. On a clean kitchen wooden board place the flour and make a hole in the center, and add here the margarine, yeast, 1/2 of the sugar, eggs, salt and a some water
2. Mix the ingredients with your hands and knead the dough well, hitting it against the board a couple of times
3. When the dough is shiny and does not stick to your hands and becomes easy to work with, place it a warm place and cover it
4. Let it sit for about 2 hours to rise
5. In the mean time, you can grease the baking sheet and pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees for about 15 minutes before baking
6. After a couple of hours, divide the dough in 2 and roll out with a rolling pin enough to place on the baking sheet
7. Cut up in small pieces the dulce de panela and scatter over the baking sheet (this will be the filling)
8. Roll out the other 1/2 of the dough and cover up the filling
9. With the left overs from the dough, roll out long, thin strings and place over top in a criss-cross shape and sprinkle with a little bit of sugar to finish it off
10. Bake for about 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown
