Ingredients

  • 1 grated coconut (or flaked coconut)
  • 2 cups of coconut milk (or regular milk if unavailable)
  • 1 lb of sugar
  • 6 egg yolks, whipped
  • 1 tbsp  of butter
  • 1 tsp of grated lemon peel
  • Sesame seeds

Directions

1. In a pot cook the coconut milk (if you can’t find coconut milk, use the 2 cups of regular milk) and sugar and mixing and blending constantly until the mixture turns into a syrup. Add the grated coconut, mixing until you can see the bottom of the pot.

2. Remove the pot from the stove, add the grated lemon peel, whipped egg yolks, a small amount of sesame seeds, and the butter.

3. Return the mixture to the stove and cook until it thickens, stirring constantly.

4. Remove the mixture from the pot with a spatula, placing it into a greased square pan. Or form into balls and place on a cookie sheet.

5. Place in the oven at low heat until it browns lightly.

6. Remove from the oven, cool, and cut into squares.
