Serves 4
1. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl then mix in the milk powder and sugar.
2. Add the margarine and rub into the mixture with your fingertips.
3. Now add the vanilla extract. Add just enough cold water to bring the ingredients together as a soft dough.
4. Place into two 500g loaf pans and set in an oven pre-heated to 180°C.
5. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the cake has risen nicely and is golden on top.
6. The cake is done when it springs back when touched and when a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake emerges cleanly.
7. Allow the cake to cool for 5 minutes in the tin then turn onto a wire rack to cool completely.
